I have been at the lake all weekend but I did want to do a quick post about my shabby shelf project.
Ahh! So peaceful!
I have had this shelf for years.
I was going to try to get into retail selling thrifty finds and cute accessories and I got this cute shelf to resell. It didn't sell, but it was never quite the finish the rest of the house had.
I love adding little seasonal trinkets to it throughout the year. I had three of these and tried to spray paint one black. It didn't go well. The finish got all wonky.
It hung outside on the porch before we enclosed it, so it was okay to have a finish that was a little scratchy.
Read about it the sun porch here.
and here:
I was afraid to paint the one in the house, but decided to anyway because I hated this color wood.
I used some primer and oil based paint I already had.
Sherwin Williams White Duck.
It took just one evening to paint.
Here she is dressed for spring.
The lamp is an $13.00 thrifty find. The lantern turned cloche was $8.00.
Here are some close ups.
Sweet Mr. Bill gave me the clock for our 25th anniversary.
I love the vintage millinery flowers off of a 1920's flapper dress.
I am loving little wrought iron bugs this spring. I got this one at the salvage shop, but I have seen them at Hobby Lobby.
I know this craft store chain is throughout the South. I hope you have one near you. The weekly sales are amazing.
I love old keys.
This bit of white balances the white I have added to
the mantle which you haven't seen yet and the little cutie I posted about last week. Here.
Can you tell I have been working on a living room reveal?
Sprinkled with wonderful white,
Katie
