Moviehole-katietreasures: The Little White Desk

I can't tell you how it frustrates me to wake up on a Saturday morning to an overcast day.

It took me days to photograph the kitchen because it was cloudy.

I am not sure how the bloggers in the Pacific Northwest get anything photographed!

Well, since I can't take pictures until the sun comes out, I will catch you up on what has been going on around here.

After we got the cabinets painted

the kitchen desk looked off.

It was cute but the medium maple color didn't go with either the table or the cabinets.

It matched my old squeaky table perfectly.

I could re-stain the top dark and paint the bottom black to go with our new table and chairs

paint the whole thing white.
I had a few other pieces of furniture I could have put in this spot.
But this little desk is a perfect place for cokes when we are entertaining.

I opted for the white to bring the color of the cabinets over to the other side of the room.

I will bring the dark of the table over to toward the stairs in the great banister makeover.
I think I am going dark on the banister and white on the rails.
Back to the desk.
I sanded it lightly and primed.

I think I have said this before.
I don't really distress furniture.
If I am taking the time to paint it, I want the finish to be nice and crisp.
I have enough distressed old furniture in this house.
It will get dinged and scratched eventually, so I'll enjoy it looking new for a while.

I hit the brass pulls with Rustoleum Metallic in Oil Rubbed Bronze.
I started this project when I got home from school. It was finished and drying by about 7:00 p.m.
