A Tale of Two Tables

I love the Christmas stuff, but I am so happy when everything is back in it's rightful place and the clutter is under control.
The living room has been a long drawn out saga and I am sure you are ready to hear the end of it.
It looked like this in June.
We wanted to lighten it up a bit
and
I was a little tired of all the brown.
I built a mantel surround.
Here.
We got a  new sofa and love seat.
Here.
The new bound carpet.
Here.
Mr. Bill thought the armoire was dated, so we got a new entertainment center.
Which meant all the end tables had to be shifted around and I needed new lamps.

These mirrored glass lamps came from Target.
They were $39.99 each.

I moved the white thrifty cabinet to the other side of the sofa where the washstand was.
The thrifty round table worked on the other side of the sofa.
I tried every end table in this house but nothing looked right next to the chairs that flank the fireplace.

I saw some nesting tables in the Pottery Barn Catalog but didn't love their $400 price tag.

I found these at Tuesday Morning.
My Walmart lamp with the faux French shade looks fine.
I had nesting tables in this room before, but they were Mission in style and they were not a modern height.
They were part of the great giveaway.
Read about it here.
I still needed a table to sit next to my Cindy Crawford chair.

You may remember reading about it's makeunder with a drop cloth here.
This grouping was too much with the new loveseat and sofa.
I needed something smaller and round and open.

I found this round candlestick type table at World Market.
It was on sale for $99.00.
(Of course three weeks later it was on sale for $75.00.)
It has perfect dimensions and weight for this little corner.
I needed a lamp, though.
I saw so many cute lamp makeover's on Pinterest that I wanted to try one.
I didn't want to do mirrored silver because I already had these.
I found the perfect little brass candidate for $7.00.
I wanted white to go with the new mantel surround.
So I sprayed it with a little RustOLeum in Semi gloss.
If possible, I try to find the shade when I buy the thrifted lamp. Otherwise it is harder to find a match.
It just so happened they had a shade that looked like linen.
Perfect.

Two cozy corners by the fireplace.
I am pondering the drape situation in this room.
I have always had a tailored valance on these windows since we moved in the house. I made these two summers ago.
I added the shutters because we had some seriously foggy windows.
The windows are fixed but I still love the shutters.
They add a little interest to an otherwise characterless build out.
I'll let you know what I decide about the drapes.

Sprinkled with two cozy corners,
Katie
Thanks for hanging in there with this saga.
